The logo (on/off power button) is suitable and symbolic to my genre since you need energy to dance and power represents the powerful movements that can be created from dancing. The colour's I have used are vibrant and contrasting colours whichis why they can be suitable for my magazine as the colours stand out against each other.

Main Task: Mood Board

This is a moodboard based on the genre of dance.

Main Task: Case Study of a Publishing House

http://www.condenast.co.uk/

Conde Nast publications is a leading and major publishing company in the U.S. The company has produced 18 popular consumer magazines such as Vogue, Vanity fair and GQ, including over 50 different applications for smart phones. Although the publication is not based in the UK, I think it would be a suitable publishing company for my magazine.

The company currently covers a range of assets including Fasihion and Lifestyle, Home, Bridal, Golf, Food, Travel, Technology, Culture and Trade.
I feel that my dance magazine will be successful as they have a variety of genre's for example 'WIRED' magazine publishes technology which can be helpful towards my target audience who can get updates/reviews on the latest Ipods, mobile phones, stereo's and headphones. I believe that by publishing my magazine (which focuses on the genre hip hop dance) it will attract a larger range of readers and subscribers. This will be beneficial to the company as it will widen their range of assets and increase the amount of readers/subscribers. They will gain a different target audience mainly from the UK and Conde Nast will be the first company to be involved in a unique type of magazine genre in the U.S

The magazines that are published by the company mainly attract females rather than men based on the amount of fashion magazines. Their publications are suitable for both genders however most of the magazines published are mainly aimed at females. The age range that the publications appeal to is wide as their magazines focus on different assets. Magazines that have something to do with fashion and current trends such as Vogue, Glamour and Style will attract young adults or teenagers unlike magazines like The New Yorker will mainly appeal to adults and business men/women based of it's formality. Alternatively, while it may seem they have a large audience and variety of different readers, they are known to focus on a particular class and age group instead of targeting the largest readers/subscribers.

My magazine will mainly appeal to young readers - particularly those who are interest in dancing, as there are many aspects within the dance genre. The benefits for the company will attract a whole new different audience, subscribers and readers including their current readers. The company chooses to appeal to different age groups, genders and people to get more money and by publishing my magazine, they can do so.

Main Task: Profiling Your Audience

The 'STANDOUT' READER: Maria is 18 and has a passion for ballet ever since when she was at the age of 9. She was in the school play as a dancing fairy. This is when she decided to annoy her mother for weeks to take her to ballet classes because she loved being on stage and performing. At the age of 16 she moved onto hip hop because it was a trend but she was still involved with ballet. She decided that the only good thing she was best at was dancing so now she does a dance course at university with a group called 'The Motions' and has performed on stage and outdoors several times. She has made new friends along the way and they have supported her by going to her dance performances and cheering. Her dance crew has got through on 'Britains Got Talent' however did not succeed the next round, This has made her more motivated to work harder. She has had opportunities to be a backstage dancer for celebrity singers such as Christina Aguilera, Rihanna and Justin Bieber.

In her spare time she likes to read the 'STANDOUT' magazine and watching 'America's Best Dance Crew' because it gives her ideas. She never leaves the house without her iPod and she says that her best dance crew is 'I.aM.mE' who previously won ABDC season 6 in 2010. She likes to practice, create and record her own choreography by combining Ballet and Hip hop together, this made her a big hit on YouTube with views of over 100,000.

Main Task: Audience Research

The asked 11 questions to sevral people as part of my Audience Research. They are ages 16+ and has experience in dancing.

The 11 questions were:
1. What stereotypical clothing do you think hip hop dancers wear?
2. What type/genre of dance do you think is most popular nowadays?
3. What genre of dance do you prefer? Ballet or Hip hop?
4. Do you think ballet is underrated?
5. What are your three favourite type of dances?
6. Do you think dancing is easier to express yourself?
7. Do you go to any dance classes?
8. Do you have a favourite dance group?
9. Is there anyone who inspired you to dance?
10. Do you dance professionally or is it a hobby?
11. Are there any dance forms you would like to learn?

Evaluation

The 11 questions will help me cover my cover lines, contents page, double spread and helpful tips for when I take my photographs for example my first question will help me choose the clothing which is suitable for my chosen genre. Also they will help me chose what chosen topic I will focus on when I begin creating my magazine. It has given me an overview of what a dance magazine requires and what my target audience looks for.
