Setting: The setting is set in a club based on the lights and crowded people which is why it is suitable for this genre which is dance as people generally dance in a club. It is very dark and mysterious which suggests that anything can happen.
Costume: The light behind the main subject (the DJ) is outlining his silhouette which shows that he is wearing a T-shirt and a 'Mickey Mouse' head gear which covers his identity. This conveys that anyone can be a DJ however it is stereotypical that a male is the DJ which suggests that this magazine is mostly based on males. The lights on the 'Mickey Mouse' head gear is unusual because it is something you don't usually see however it stands out also because it covers the whole magazine it maintains the colour scheme.
Props: The main prop is the desk and the laptops. The desk stands out the most in the image because it is set in the centre of the magazine. The laptops represents that the subject raising his arm is the DJ
Lighting: Is low key because of the setting. The unusual light conveys a night time effect which is symbolic due to the fact that people usually go to clubs at night with flashing lights. The desk is the light source which means that it is artificial.
NVC: The DJ's hand is up which is something a DJ would do to get his/her audience more involved. The crowd (bottom left-side) is raising there arms as a response to the DJ that they are enjoying the music.
Masthead (Logo): The masthead is red and simple which can be recognised easily, also it is part of the colour scheme. The connotation of red is energy, anger and lust this is what you would generally see in a club. Also when it comes to dancing it contrasts with the connotations because dancing involves emotions and energy.
Dateline: Is next to the bar-code and website link because it is a minor element. Also it suggests that the issue of the magazine is suitable for any day/month or year.
Main Image: The main image covers the entire front cover magazine and it is something you would generally see in a club. The main image stands out because it takes up all of the front cover and over powers all the other elements making the main image attract the target audience.
Cover-Lines: The cover-lines are small so they do not over-power the main image or the main cover-line also to not make the front cover look busy however not too informative and plain. The colour scheme and typography runs through-out the cover-lines making so it contrasts and separates the elements of the magazine which makes it look quite proffessional.
Main Cover-Line: The main cover-line consists of the colours red and white which is part of the colour scheme. The main cover-line looks as if it is coming out from the magazine and this will attract attention making it suitable for the front cover and left-third. The Main cover-line is larger than the cover-lines and the heading which creates an impact on the top half of the magazine making it look more bold and grab more attention. Also the size suggests that it is a interesting topic or piece information which would interest the target audience.
Left Third: The main elements are on the Left-third because when the magazine is on shelves it will attract the audience and stand out. The main cover-line is on the left third so it stands out on the shelves in shops. There isn't too much text so people will not get bored looking at it and the colour scheme contrasts with each other making it stand out.
Bar-code: The bar-code is small which represents that it is unimportant and so it does not interfere with the other elements.
Website Link: Is next to the bar-code which shows that it is insignificant, also it does not interfere with the other elements. The website link is smaller than the bar-code because it conveys that people are not necessarily interested or bothered to go onto the website.
